Taitung Tianhou Palace, a Taoist temple. Located at 222, Section 1, Zhonghua Road, Taitung City, Taitung County, Taiwan Province. According to the “Taiwan Temple Panorama”: it was built in the 14th year of the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1888), and was originally called Mazu Temple, commonly known as Dongtai Mazu Temple. It was relocated to its current location in the 15th year of the Republic of China (1926), and was expanded and renovated in the 35th year of the Republic of China (1946). It was repaired in 1973, and in 1979, the archway, Tang Yue Terrace and the second floor of the bell and drum tower were built. The front archway of the palace is flanked by golden pavilions, and in front of that is the main hall. The hall is in the shape of a double-eaved hipped roof, with dragon and phoenix soaring in the sky. A golden plaque with the three characters “Tianhou Gong” hangs on the eaves. The main shrine in the hall enshrines a wooden seated statue of Mazu, wearing a jeweled crown and embroidered robe, with a kind expression. The left shrine is dedicated to the Goddess of Safe Childbirth, and the right shrine to the City God and the God of Wealth.
台东天后宫 道教宫观。在台湾省台东县台东市中华路一段二二二号。据《台湾寺庙大观》记载:创建于清代光绪十四年 (1888),初称妈祖庙,俗称东台妈祖庙;民国十五年(1926)迁建今址,民国三十五年(1946)增修扩建,1973年曾有修缮,1979年兴建牌楼、唐乐台及钟鼓二楼。过宫前牌楼,两旁侧立金亭,再前为正殿,殿系双檐歇山造型,燕尾轻扬,龙凤凌空,檐问悬挂“天后宫”三字金匾,殿内正龛供奉木雕妈祖坐像,头戴珠冠,身披绣袍,神态慈祥,左龛奉注生娘娘,右龛祀城隍神及福德正神。
