Nantou Shadong Palace, a Taoist temple. No. 495, Jishan Road, Zhushan Town, Nantou County, Taiwan Province. According to the “Taiwan Temple Panorama”: It was built in the seventh year of the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (1802), and was originally a stone room, dedicated to the founding saint Zheng Chenggong. It was repeatedly rebuilt and renamed Shengwang Temple; in the sixth year of the Xianfeng period (1856), local gentleman Liu Hanzhong expanded it, and it was named Shandong Palace for the meaning of “dominating the eastern part of Shuisha”. In the front hall, there is a plaque hanging in the worship hall that reads “Majestic in the East of the Sea”. On the left wall is a record of the great achievements of Zheng Chenggong's life, which is both literary and magnificent. On the right wall are photos of various celebrities who have visited the temple since its construction, along with brief introductory texts. In the middle of the main hall is a shrine that houses a golden statue of Zheng Chenggong, about four feet tall. On the left and right are two six-foot-tall golden statues that protect the main hall. The statue is dignified without anger. Behind the main hall is a garden with a pavilion and a mirror-polishing platform. The pavilion contains a five-foot-high bronze mirror that reflects the entire mountain. The temple is home to many cultural relics, and is famous for its ancient plaques.
