In the 16th year of the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty (18 36), the villagers of Toucheng raised funds to build the temple, which was named Tiangong Temple. In the 30th year of the Guangxu reign (1904) of the Qing Dynasty, the villagers raised funds again to expand it and renamed it Qingyun Palace, after the lines “A red cloud holds the Jade Emperor” from a poem by Su Shi. The main buildings in the temple include the Welcome Gate, the parapet wall, the front hall, the Lingxiao Hall, and the park. The Lingxiao Hall is adjacent to the front hall, backed by green mountains, and stands in the air like a canopy emerging from the mountains. The first floor mainly worships Mazu, while the left and right sides are dedicated to the God of Wealth and the City God God, the second floor is called the Jade Emperor Lingxiao Hall, and in the middle of the hall is a shrine that houses a seated statue of the Jade Emperor. The left and right shrines enshrine the statues of the Southern Dipper Star Lord, the Northern Dipper Star Lord, and the Three Gracious Ones, who help the Emperor guide sentient beings and warn them of their misdeeds. The third floor is called the “Guan Yuan Building”. There are two halls on either side of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, both with double eaves. The left hall is the Hall of Sincerity, which houses the Erlangshen, and the right hall is the Hall of Righteousness, which houses the Tuotai Tianwang.
