Tianjin Tianhou Palace Taoist temple. In the northeast corner of the old city of Tianjin. Also known as Tianfei Palace, commonly known as Niangniang Palace. Built in the third year of the Taiding period of the Yuan Dynasty (1326), rebuilt in the first year of the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty (1403), repaired in the tenth year of the Zhengtong period (1445), and repeatedly repaired and expanded during the Qing Dynasty. The existing buildings include the gate, archway, main hall, side halls, rear hall, bell and drum towers, etc. The main hall enshrines a statue of the goddess Mazu, and is the oldest existing building in Tianjin. The temple was not only the centre of worship for the sea goddess Mazu at the time, but also a place where Tianjin's ancient boatmen gathered for entertainment.
天津天后宫 道教宫观。在天津市旧城东北角。又名天妃宫,俗称娘娘宫。始建于元代泰定三年 (1326),明代永乐元年(1403)重建,正统十年(1445)重修,清代屡有维修与扩建。现存宫门、牌坊、正殿、配殿、后殿、钟鼓楼等建筑,正殿内主祀天后娘娘塑像,为天津现存最古老的建筑。该宫既是当时人们祀祭海神妈祖的中心,又为天津古时船工聚会娱乐之所。
