Putuo Mountain is located in the center of Qixing Park in Guilin, Guangxi. The peaks are green, like a screen, and the lower part is like a spiral. There are many caves in the middle. On the rock wall of the mountain are the three characters “Bi Xu Yan” (meaning “green void rock”), which were carved by Taoist monk Pan Changjing at the end of the Ming Dynasty. Halfway up the mountain is the Putuo Stone Forest, with strange and rugged rocks. Li Jing of the Tang Dynasty once built a temple here. After leaving the stone forest, you can reach the entrance of the Seven Star Caves via Xuanwu Pavilion, White Crane Cave and Four Immortals Rock. The Seven Star Caves are also known as “Qixia Cave” and “Bixu Rock.” The caves are majestic and deep, with jade-like snow and crystal clear water. The widest part is 43 meters, the highest part is 27 meters, and the journey is more than 800 meters. The scenery inside the caves is rich and varied, and it is very magnificent. Since the Sui and Tang dynasties, it has become a tourist attraction and a famous Taoist mountain, with many inscriptions and poems. Among them, the inscription “First Cave Heaven” by Zhang Wenxi of the Ming Dynasty and the poems of Fan Chengda of the Song Dynasty still exist today.
