Longshan is a branch of the Luliang Mountains; the mountain is densely forested with lush foliage and flowers, and in late autumn the mountains are covered with red leaves, making for a pleasant scene. There were originally two caves with Taoist statues on the summit. They were discovered by Taoist monk Song Defang in the early Yuan Dynasty. In the sixth year of the reign of Emperor Taizong (1234), Song Defang presided over the excavation of five caves in the caves and built the Haotian Temple. Later, someone added a cave. The Taoist temple has now been destroyed, but the caves still exist. People now call them the Hall of the Empty Emperor, the Hall of the Three Pristine Ones, the Hall of the Reclining Buddha, the Hall of the Three Heavenly Masters, the Hall of the Three Emperors, the Hall of the Sage, the Hall of the Cloud-Covered Child, and the Hall of the Seven Sages. There are 78 statues in the eight caves, most of which are well preserved. The carvings are simple, the clothing is solemn, the lines are concise, and the style is unique. The top of the grottoes is also carved with patterns of dragons and phoenixes. There are inscriptions on the sides and on the front wall from the Yuan Dynasty. They are precious physical materials for studying the art and history of Taoist grottoes and are important cultural relics of Taoism. They are also protected cultural relics in Shanxi Province. 2.
