  清初龙门派的高道大脚仙姓王，名太原，字晋人。幼年即隐居云南鸡足山。长大后到崂山，修道有成后，云游湖北、湖南之间，问他年龄，回答说：“已记不清了。”他身材甚高，足板特别大，下巴底下悬着个像圆球般的西，襄阳城中有了解的说，那“球”，实是他的胡子，长约二丈，有时散下盘在腰际，卷起采便像个球。大脚仙居处不定，有时在岩谷，有时在江边，即便风雨霜雪的日子，也从不住 在堂内，人们常数月见不到他。但凡遇到有缘的，他便微微而笑；无缘的，只是瞪一瞪眼。他的穿着只是件千针百补衣，破破烂烂，没有一片布分得清原来的颜色。几十年中，他没有和人说过话。唯独乾隆初年襄阳某任知府的侄子，年纪只有十六七岁，平日喜爱修道，听到大脚仙的名声，便去寻访。大脚仙一见便哈哈大笑，带着他到另一处地方去，天近黑才让他回来，并约定期限再来度他。知府仔细询问他侄儿，才隐约知道大脚仙的来历。

  据说，大脚仙本姓朱，原是明朝唐王的小儿子，生母江钿钿，是唐王的侍妾。母亲怀他方七个月，唐王遇害，钿钿毁去容貌，混在难民妇女队中逃难，有吉王已化去的师父伍冲虚显灵，引导她进入云南，居住在鸡足山的深处。大脚仙七岁时，母亲逝世，幸好有位龙树山人又称鸡足道者入云南居住，将他收养。因他原是王孙，所以改姓为王。

  十年之后，太守侄子不知去了哪里，人们都怀疑是大脚仙度他成仙了。
