The goddess said, "I am the Jade Maiden of Heaven, a native of Dongxian County, surnamed Cheng Zhiqiong, who lost her parents at an early age, and the heavens have mercy on me for my loneliness and distress, and let me get married to a mortal." The dream is clear and real feel her beautiful exception, appearance is not mortal beauty can be compared. When I woke up, I still miss her desperately, in a trance, she seems to be in front of me, but also does not seem to be. So after three or four days, one day the Jade Lady really came to visit; Driving a car with curtains, followed by eight maids; Wearing damask embroidered clothes, the appearance of the body, looks like flying in the air like a fairy. She claimed to be seventy years old, but looked like she was only fifteen or sixteen. The car has pots and plants and five pieces of green and white glazed cups and plates, taking out the food and drink are rare and strange. The wine was sweet and refreshing, the Jade Maiden and Xuanchao drank to each other, and said to Xuanchao: "I am the Jade Maiden in heaven, I was sent down to earth to marry, so I came to follow my husband, I can't imagine that you are so loyal and generous, it is about destiny, so we should be husband and wife. You married me, talk about no benefit, but also no harm. From now on, you will be able to go in and out of the country, often driving light and soft vehicles, riding fat horses; food, often eating faraway delicacies and exotic food; as for the silk and colorful fabrics, you can often get them, and will not be short of money. However, as I am a god, I cannot bear children for you, and I am not jealous, so I will not prevent you from choosing another woman to marry." Thus, the two became husband and wife.

    Jade woman is smart, can poetry and literature, but also good at divination, string Chao followed the study, all know the mystery. The two were married for seven or eight years. Later, the string super mother gave him a room married daughter-in-law, string super still take turns with the daughter-in-law, jade accompanied by the night. Jade woman night to come, morning to go, fast as flying, only string super to see her, others are not see, just strange string super living alone in the dark room, but the sound of men and women talking to each other, and sometimes show a little trace, but never appeared in human form. After a long time, there are people to string Chao to ask questions. When he was questioned, he gradually revealed his secret. The Jade Maiden asked to leave, saying, "I am an immortal, although I live with you, I don't want others to know. I can't imagine that you are so careless and not strict with your words, so my details have been revealed and I can't hang out with you any more. For many years the favor is not light, once to separate, is not it sad and regrettable. But things are so, have to separate. In the future, let us work hard individually." And call out the maid servant set up wine and food to drink from the basket out of the weaving of the skirt and shirt two sets of souvenirs. The two of them held hands and cried bitterly to say goodbye, and then collected their sorrowful faces and boarded the car and flew away like flying. Chun-chao was so sad for several days that he almost fell ill.

     Five years later, Chuanchao was ordered by the county magistrate to go to Luoyang to work, and when he went to the bottom of Fish Mountain in Jibei and traveled along the road to the west, he saw from afar that a car was coming from a bend in the road, and the person sitting on it seemed to be Zhiqiong, so he drove his horse to meet her and took a look, and sure enough, it was her. So pull open the car curtain and she met, really mixed feelings of sadness and joy. So he traveled with her to Luoyang, where they became husband and wife again, and restored their old love for each other. Until the Jin Dynasty Taikang years, the Jade Lady is still in the string family, but less than before, only March 3, May 5, July 7, September 9, and the first day of the month, the 15th, down to the earth and string Chao to and from the next night away. After this story spread, Zhang Hua of the Jin Dynasty wrote a "Goddess Fugue" for it.

     三国魏时，济北郡有位小官叫弦超，一天夜间独宿，梦见一个神女来和他相会。那神女自称：“我是天上玉女，东郡人，姓成名知琼，早年失去父母，上天哀怜我孤苦伶仃，让我下嫁凡间。”梦中明明白白实实在在觉得她丽异常，容貌决非凡间美女可比。待醒来后，仍然没命地思念她，恍惚中觉得她似在眼前，又似不在。这样过了三四天，一天玉女当真来游访；驾着挂帷幕的车子，跟随有八个丫环；穿着绫罗绣花的衣服，那容貌体态，样子就像凌空飞翔的仙子。自称年已七十，看上去却像只有十五六岁。车上有壶植及青白色的琉璃杯盘五件，拿出吃的喝的都是稀奇古怪。酒浆甘冽，玉女和玄超对饮，对玄超说：“我是天上玉女，被派遣下凡嫁人，所以来追随夫君，想不到你性情那么忠厚，大约是命运注定罢，所以我们应当结为夫妻。你娶了我，谈不上有什么益处，但也没有损害。只是从此之后，你进出往来，常可以驾轻软的车子、骑肥壮的马匹；饮食呢，常常能吃到远方的珍馐和奇异的食品；至于素绢彩缯，也经常可以得到，不会缺少用度。不过，我是神仙，不能替你生孩子，也没有妒忌心，不妨碍你另选女子结婚。”就这样，两人成了夫妻。

     玉女聪明，能诗能文，又善于占卦，弦超跟着学，都懂得了奥妙。二人做了七八年夫妻。后来弦超母亲给他娶了房媳妇，弦超仍轮流着和媳妇、玉女伴宿。玉女夜里来，早晨走，快捷如飞，只有弦超见到她，别人是瞧不见的，只是奇怪弦超独居暗室，却传出男女对谈的声音，有时也露一点踪迹，却从未现过人形。时间长了，就有人向弦超探问。弦超被问急了，渐渐将秘密泄漏。玉女便要求离去， 说：“我是神仙，虽然和你同居，却不愿别人知道。想不到你竟然这么粗心，口风不严，我的底细都已露出，不能再和你来往。多年来恩义不轻，一旦要分别了，岂不令人伤心遗憾。但事势如此，不得不分别了。以后让我们各自努力吧。”又唤出丫环侍从摆上酒食对饮从筐中取出织好的裙衫两套留作纪念。两人拉着手痛哭告别，然后收敛愁容，登上车子如飞般地离去。弦超内心忧伤了好几天，差一点儿一病不起。　

    五年后，弦超奉郡守之命到洛阳办公事，走到济北鱼山下，沿路西行，远远看到弯道口驰来一辆车子，上面坐着的似乎是知琼,便驱马迎上去，一看，果然是她。于是拉开车上帷幕和她相见，真是悲喜交集。弦超便和她乘车同行，来到洛阳，重为夫妻，修复旧日恩爱之情。直到晋朝太康年间，玉女仍在弦家，不过比以往来得少了,只有三月三日、五月五日、七月七日、九月九日，及每月初一、十五,下凡与弦超往来，隔宿离去。此事传开后，晋代的张华曾为之写过一篇《神女赋》。
