His real name was Wang Ziqiao, and his full name was “Right Assistant King, Leader of the Five Mountains, Relying on the Morning Emperor”. In the “Historical Record of True Immortals and Taoism” by Daoist Zhao Daoyi of the Yuan Dynasty, it is said that his name was Jin, his style name Ziqiao; he was also known as Qiao, and his style name was Zijin. He was originally the crown prince of the Ling King of the same generation. He was born with supernatural powers and was fond of Daoism from an early age. He was well versed in music and played the sheng well, often producing sounds like those of a phoenix and a dragon. Later, he traveled far and wide, to the borders of Yi and Lu, where he met the Taoist priest Fu Qiu Sheng, who took him to Mount Song and taught him the essentials of the Tao, enabling him to cultivate the method of storing the spirit in the golden light of the stone spirit. He cultivated for twenty years and finally became a Daoist immortal. Later, on the summit of Mount Gou, he flew up to immortality on a crane. He was bestowed the title “True Man of Tongbai”.

真人姓王名子乔,全称“右弼王领五岳司恃帝晨”。元代道士赵道一《历世真仙体道通鉴》称其名为晋,字子乔;亦名乔,字子晋。本为同代灵王之太子。生而神异,幼年时即好道学。通音律,善吹笙,每每奏出鸾凤之音。后远游,至伊、洛间,感遇天台山道士浮丘生,接引其上嵩山,授其大道之要,使其修炼石精金光藏景录神之法。自此修炼达二十年,终于得道仙成。后在缑氏山顶峰,乘自鹤飞升登仙。受封为“桐柏真人”。
