Huang Shi Gong was a person from the Qin and Han dynasties. He later became immortal and was included in the pantheon of gods by Taoism. The Records of the Grand Historian: The Family of Lord Liu states that he avoided the chaos of the Qin dynasty and went into hiding in Xiapi, in the eastern sea. At that time, Zhang Liang, who had failed in his plot to assassinate the first emperor of the Qin dynasty, went into hiding in Xiapi and met Huangshigong on the bridge in Xiapi. After three trials, Huangshigong gave Zhang Liang the Art of War and said before he left, “Thirteen years from now, at the foot of the mountain in Jibei Valley, Huangshi will be me.” Zhang Liang later used the military treatise taught by Huang Shigong to help Liu Bang, the first Han emperor, conquer the world. Thirteen years later, he found Huang Shi under the mountain at Jibei Valley City and built a shrine to him. The two books “Huang Shigong Su Shu” and “Huang Shigong San Lue” were passed down through the generations, but were actually written by later generations.
