Chen Mu, also known as “Ying Mu”, had the surname Chen and the style name Ying. He was from Wu during the Three Kingdoms period. According to the “Taishang Lingbao Jingming Religious Records”, Chen Mu lived in Qunhuang Hall in Danyang, where he secretly cultivated the Dao. He had the appearance of a young child and white hair, and was known as Ying Mu by contemporaries. He met an immortal boy who gave him the secrets of cultivation, the Great Cave Scripture, and the way of the Taishang Yinxuan of the Seven Yuan. Chen's mother practiced the great method in secret for decades, unknown to anyone. Xu Xun and Wu Meng heard that she had the Way, and traveled to Danyang to ask her to teach them the great method. Chen's mother then taught Xu the method of the King of Filial Piety, and passed away a few years later.
谌母,又称“婴姆”,姓谌,字婴,三国时吴人。据《太上灵宝净明宗教录》称,谌母居丹阳群黄堂,潜修至道,童颜鹤发,时人称为婴姆。遇仙童授以修真之诀大洞真经、豁落七元太上隐玄之道。谌母密修大法,积数十年,人莫知之。许逊吴猛闻其有道,远诣丹阳请授大法,谌母乃授许君以孝道明王之法,数年后仙去。
