Hearth and Fire Pass
徐真人 曰:“杂性不同类,安肯合体居。” 淳于真人 曰:“同类易施工兮,非种难为巧。”紫阳真人曰:“休炼三黄及四神,若寻众草更非真。阴阳得类归交感,二八相当自合亲。潭底日红阴怪灭,山头月白药苗新。时人要识真铅汞,不是凡砂及水银。”又云:“休泥丹灶费工夫,炼药须寻偃月炉。自有天然真火候,不须柴炭及吹嘘。”三丰真人曰:“五金八石皆是假,万草千方总是差。金虾蟆,玉老鸦,认得真的是作家。”此皆言金丹大道,非炉火烧炼之术也。夫所谓“金丹”者,金取其坚刚不坏之义,丹取其圆成无亏之义,坚刚圆成,故名“金丹”。即本来先天真一之灵宝,一名“先天真一之气”,一名“生物之祖气”,一名“先天灵根”,一名“元始宝珠”,总而言之,曰“真灵至精之气”。此气在儒则曰“太极”,在释则曰“圆觉”,在道则曰“金丹”。无形无象,非色非空。然虽无形而能生有形,无象而能生实象,非色而能生妙色,非空而却是真空。本于先天,藏于后天,为性命之根,仙佛之种,圣贤之基。知而修之,可以脱生死,出造化,超凡入圣,不生不灭。但人认不得这个根本种子,所以当面错过。若欲认的,非可妄猜私议,必求明师,口传心授,方能见真。又要明师细指药物真假,火候是非,工程次序,作用法则,方可进步。古来仙经,演说细微,形容奥妙,其理其法,无一不备。其如千变万化、方便立名、随物取象、杂物撰德、以有象比无象、以有形喻无形、分散辩论、各指一理一法而论,其意幽隐,内藏天机,难以显言。教学人得象忘言、得意忘象、自穷自究、自会自悟耳。穷之不得,究之不明,就证有道,由博而约,自疑而悟,非是即书即道也。其实祖师一言一语,皆是性命切近妙用,身心分内实学,并非舍近求远,借用世间滓质之物也。世间糊涂学人,道在近而求诸远,事在易而求诸难,不究求意,但认其象,不穷其理,仅记其言,猜枚打谜,各出己见。见有大小金丹之说,而即疑为有形有质之物;见金鼎玉炉之说,而即疑为泥灶铜铁之具;见铅汞药物之说,而即疑为水银黑锡之凡物;见黄芽白雪之说,而即疑为烧炼升打之灵霜;见文烹武炼之说,而即疑为柴炭吹嘘之凡火。以金石草木之浊物,煅炼服食,妄想接无形之性命。殊不知竹破须将竹补宜,抱鸡当用卵为之。世间凡物与我性命非类,安能接得性命?又有一等痴迷汉,借祖师“金丹入口,点化凡躯”之说,或借“信道金丹一粒,蛇吞立变成龙,鸡飱亦乃化鸾鹏”之句,而遂烹炼金石砂汞、三黄四神之药,妄想吞服飞升,变形易像,绝不思浊肉浊骨,金石之药怎能点化变形飞升?愚之甚矣!况金石之药,本来有毒,加之火煅,药毒火毒结于一处,其毒愈大,服之而烂肠坏肤,未有不丧其命者。昔九江张尚书信服食,吕祖点化不悟,题诗于门曰:“可惜九江张尚书,服药失明神气枯。不知还丹本无质,谬饵金石何太愚!”后果失明。可知金石之药,不能济事,反而坏事。古今受此症者,不可胜数!更有一等贪财作孽之辈,借祖师“欲求天上宝,须要世间财”之语,以为买鼎办药,非财不成,而遂东觅外获,西寻巨富,哄骗愚人,肥肉美酒,混吃混喝,或用增银之法,或去红铜之血,或烧铅点汞,或烧茅炼铜。凡此等类,皆是假物,怎能成真!甚至盗去真物,换出假物,拐人资财,败人家产,忍心狠心,如同贼寇,其恶其毒,尚可言哉?昔正阳祖师传与吕祖黄白之术,利人济物。吕祖因三千年以后还元,恐害后人,不愿为之,其居心为何如?炉火迷徒,不知积德而反伤德。服祖师之服,背祖师之行,大丧天良,纵然人容,天岂能容哉?吾劝真心学道者,速将炉火关口打通,把一切烧炼丹药、烹煎茅法,等等不善事务扫去,在身心性命上细心钻研,寻出个乾坤 炉鼎 ,找出个 乌兔 药物,运三昧真火,煅炼成宝,方有实济。否则,以金石为点心,以毒药为命宝,无益有损。妄想成道,难矣!
以上五十条,皆学人要命关口,阴路大魔,须要关关打通,方好进步。若有一关不通,即被此一关挡住,任尔盖世英雄,扳山烈汉,寸步难行。学者须要认得真,信得过。虽不能遂然皆通,渐次着力,终有打通之日。倘认不真,信不过,终在关内而不能出于关外。欲上大路,除是插翅而飞,腾云而过,岂不误了前程?一切学人,将这些关口略不经意,看为小可,舍近求远,舍易求难,自己病根不去,妄想他人家业,自己人事不尽,妄想他人 天宝 。谁肯将家业交与病汉?谁肯将天宝付与匪人?夫性命之道,天下第一件大事,天下第一件难事,非大力量、大功德、大丈夫,载不起,作不成。果能打通诸般关口,便是大力量、大功德、大丈夫。若遇明师一点,大道在望,直登彼岸,纵横逆顺没遮拦,步步见功,何愁道之难成乎?
读素朴老人通关文一书而欢
老人成就学人之意,无微不至。 曩 著 三易 注略诸书,诠明大道, 昭揭渊微 ,专言造诣之事。其功细而密,其言浑而大。至于 九要八法 诸书,教人去邪以入善。虽词义加显,而犹未悉数其入门之碍,窃见学人妄想情念,积习浓厚,不能尽除。所以行之不力,遂为转移。此通关文之义在慈悲之怀,因不得不逐一直指之耳。其节目详明备,导滞塞。令学者自持而自通之,由此而进,远大可期。谓老人不 亟 于度世,其谁然欤?岩薄质无能,身世虚度,乃浮慕焉,私拟焉,奋步趋而旋却,一心志而弗常。今也欲求有功,先求无过。愿与有志前进者,共本此而力行之。迷途接引之下,当不得漫然作规戒观也。如当从事修途之始,未能先通关口,而遂欲安行大道,能乎否耶?

To gold and stone, grass and wood of the turbid, calcined food, delusion of intangible life. Scholars must recognize the truth and believe in it. Though they may not be able to get through all of them, they will be able to get through them gradually. If you don't recognize the truth and can't believe in it, you will end up in the Guan and can't get out of the Guan. If you want to go to the big road, except for flying with wings and clouds, won't you miss your future? All scholars, these passes a little careless, see as a small matter, give up the near and seek the far, give up the easy and seek the difficult, their own root of the disease does not go, delusional thinking about other people's family business, their own personnel is not complete, delusional thinking about other people's heavenly treasures. Who is willing to hand over his family business to a sick man? Who is willing to give the heavenly treasure to the bandits? The way of life, the world's first big thing, the world's first difficult thing, non-great strength, great virtue, great man, can not afford to carry, can not do. If you can get through all the hurdles, it is a great strength, great merit, great man. If you meet with a wise teacher, the road is in sight, straight to the other shore, vertical and horizontal, no obstacles, step by step to see the success, why worry about the road of the difficult to achieve it?

The old man's intention to fulfill the learners was meticulous. In former times, he wrote a series of books on the Three Easy Notes, which explained the Way and revealed the depths of its depths, specializing in attainment. Their work is subtle but dense, and their words are profound but great. As for the books of the Nine Essentials and Eight Methods, they teach people to go away from evil and enter into goodness. Although the words and meanings of these books are more obvious, they have not yet counted all the obstacles to their entry, and I have seen that the students' delusional thoughts and habits are so thick that they cannot be eliminated. Therefore, they are not able to do so, and then they are transferred. This passes through the meaning of the text in the heart of compassion, because it had to be one by one straight to the ear. Its program is detailed and clear, guide stagnation. So that scholars hold themselves and self-passage, and thus advance, far and wide can be expected. Who is the one who says that the old man is not eager to help the world? I am not capable of doing anything, and my life has been wasted, so I have been fond of it and have made up my mind about it, and I have been unable to keep my mind on it. Now, if I want to be successful, I must first realize that I have not made any mistakes. I wish to go forward with the will, total this and force to do. Under the guidance of the lost path, when it is not to make regulations and precepts also.
